The Kitty Hawk Air Society (KHAS) is the Honor Society for the AFJROTC program. The purpose of the KHAS is to further instill cadet Leadership and Teamwork qualities. In a manner similar to other Honor Societies, "Kitty Hawkers" are required to maintain a 3.2 weighted GPA. Specific KHAS objectives are: to promote higher academic standards; be of service to the school and community; promote excellence, integrity, and initiative; develop leadership ability; encourage academic excellence, and further educational development in post high school years.
Guess Who???????????
I will be posting pictures this weekend, but YES! It's Ashley-Anne!
(for those that don't know what a "weighted GPA" is, it means that they take Honors, or Advanced Placement classes, and have received an "A" in that class, versus an "A" in a regular HS class. Hence ..."weighted")
How this child went from the 8th grade drama queen to this very self-possessed, responsible, hard working, etc etc etc ......kid, is beyond me.
But tonight she was inducted into the Kitty Hawk Air Society. She has a 3.8 WEIGHTED GPA. Made it through "basic training" and is ready to start her SOPHOMORE year as one of the best of the best.
and ........
YES I CRIED!
See you this weekend with pictures!
Oh, and PS....She has a "meeting" tomorrow with her Chief to discuss her future. Where she wants to go to school, and what it's going to take for her to get there. Anyone know the Air Force Academy's Fight Song?

You have every right to be proud there, Mom! She sounds like a lovely and smart young lady!!! I know it has to be hard being a single mom, but you are doing a great job of raising those two beautiful little girls!!! The boy next door to us when we first moved to SC was attending the AF Academy in Colorado. He was an AF pilot, then a commercial pilot for years and is now a veterinarian back in his home town. Wonderful young man!!! Ashley will go far!!!
Be proud of her!!!! And congrats to her from me!!!
((( HUGS )))
